چکیده

In this study, biodiesel was produced from underutilized kariya oilseed using ethanol in the presence of pod-husks bio-catalyst. The oil used extracted through soxhlet solvent extraction approach. Transesterification seed investigated Central Composite Design (CCD) Response surface methodology. Process factors such as reaction temperature (65, 70, and 85oC), time (2, 3, 4 h), ethanol/kariya molar ratio (8:1, 10:1, 12:1) were modeled based on CCD experimental design. fuel properties produced, its blends with petrol-diesel determined. average yield 32.55 wt. %. Based results, 94.41 wt.% obtained at optimal conditions; a 75oC, 2 h, ethanol: mole 10:1 catalyst loading 5 wt.%. physicochemical blend well within American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM D6751) standard compared favorably petrol-diesel.

The Kariya Problem and Related Constructions

Given a point Q other than the incenter I of a reference triangle, we give a simple conic construction of a homothety mapping I into Q so that the image of the intouch triangle is perspective with the reference triangle. This is a generalization of the Kariya theorem in the case Q = I that the homothety can be arbitrary. The ratio of the homothety (the Kariya factor) is a unique nonzero finite ...

Process Optimization of Biodiesel Production Using Alkaline Catalysts

The most commonly used method for biodiesel preparation is via transesterification of vegetable oil using alkaline catalysts. Biodiesel yield and oil conversion are affected by operating conditions including the catalyst formulation and concentration. Application of alkaline catalysts can also lead to undesired soap formation. This study evaluated the alkaline catalyst effects on biodiesel yiel...

Optimization of Lipase-Catalyzed Transesterification of Cotton Seed Oil for Biodiesel Production Using Response Surface Methodology

The aim of this work was to study the biodiesel production from cotton seed oil by lipase produced by Pichia guilliermondii lipase, which was immobilized onto hydrophobic magnetic particles (HMPs). The optimum reaction conditions were determined for lipase dosage, methanol-to-oil molar ratio, temperature and water content. Using response surface methodology, a quadratic polynomial equation was ...

Effects of cooking and fermentation on the chemical composition, functional, and antinutritional properties of kariya (Hildergardia barteri) seeds

The effects of natural fermentation and cooking on kariya seeds functional properties, chemical composition, and antinutritional properties were evaluated. Result showed a reduction in antinutritional properties and improvement in protein content which were observed to increase with cooking (at 100°C) and fermentation period (24-96 hr). Functional analyses showed an increase in foaming and emul...

Biodiesel Production from Crude Cottonseed Oil: An Optimization Process Using Response Surface Methodology

Biodiesel, known as fatty acid methyl ester (FAME), was produced from crude cottonseed oil (triglycerides) by transesterification with methanol in the presence of sodium hydroxide. This process was optimized by applying factorial design and response surface methodology (RSM) with SAS and PSIPLOT programs. A second-order mathematical model was obtained to predict the yield as a function of metha...
